TurboFIRE

What is TurboFIRE

TurboFIRE (Turbo Functional Imaging in REal-time) is cutting-edge neuroimaging technology for online fMRI analysis. It is compatible with highly accelerated multi-echo fMRI acquisition methods with temporal resolution as short as 100 ms. It is user-friendly, features a wide range of powerful signal and image processing options to maximize sensitivity and specificity for task-based and resting-state fMRI. It has been developed for the following applications:  Presurgical and intra-operative task-based and resting-state mapping of eloquent cortex in patients with brain tumors, epilepsy and deep brain stimulation. Neuroscience research studies of cognition and emotions, and to apply neurofeedback based on task-activation and resting-state connectivity.  TurboFIRE is fast, efficient, and packed with features for advanced brain imaging research.

Features

  • Preprocessing of multi-echo Echo-Planar_Imaging (EPI) data, including T2*mapping and weighted echo averaging for optimum sensitivity
  • Spatial normalization in reference to the MNI atlas-based regions-of-interest (ROI)s
  • Up to 12 simultaneous sliding window correlation analyses for task-based and resting-state fMRI
  • General Linear Model analysis
  • PCA-based regression of motion and confounding signals (CSF, white matter)
  • Inter-regional connectivity matrix
  • Spatially aggregated  probabilistic pattern classification
  • Automatic quantification using cluster analysis
  • Interfaces for neurofeedback
  • More features to be released soon...

Technical Requirements

TurboFIRE was developed on a 64 Bit Linux platform (other operating systems upon request). A high-speed data transfer interface is available for Siemens MR scanners using operating systems VB15, VB17 and VE11C (other operating systems upon request) and for the Philips XTC Data Dumper.
